What Is a Barcode Generator?

Our free online tool supports over a dozen industry‑standard formats, including Code 128, EAN‑13, UPC‑A, Code 39, ITF‑14, and GS1‑128. Whether you need retail barcodes for packaging, warehouse labels for logistics, or shipping codes for carriers, you can generate high‑quality barcodes instantly in your browser.

Need 2D scannable codes? Generate them instantly with our QR code generator. Our barcode generator already lets you customize colors and export transparent backgrounds for packaging, labels, and mockups. If you need to adjust dimensions for specific label sizes or printing requirements, you can resize your barcode images easily using our image resizer.

💡Tips for Perfect Barcode Output

  • Choose the right symbology: Code 128 for general use, EAN‑13 for retail, GS1‑128 for supply chain
  • Let auto‑checkdigit correct your data – it prevents costly scanning errors
  • Select 2x or 4x resolution when downloading PNGs for crisp printing on thermal or laser printers
  • Test barcodes with a scanner before mass production to avoid readability issues
  • Use the PDF label layout to match Avery templates and your printer’s exact margins
  • Save your custom settings (size, colors, margins) as a template for repeatable designs

After generating your barcodes, you can further refine them for different use cases. Convert barcode images into formats like PNG, JPG, or WebP using our image converter, or reduce file sizes for faster loading and easier sharing with our image compressor — ideal for web use, email attachments, or large-scale distribution.

Frequently Asked Questions

We support Code 128, EAN‑13, UPC‑A, Code 39, ITF‑14, GS1‑128, Interleaved 2 of 5 (I2OF5), EAN‑8, UPC‑E, and Codabar.
Your data never leaves your browser. All barcode generation is done locally in your device. We do not upload, store, or log any of your inputs – not even temporarily.
Absolutely. Upload a CSV or Excel file with a column named 'value'. We’ll auto‑detect the best format for each row and generate up to 2,000 barcodes. You can download them as a ZIP of PNGs or as a single PDF with customizable label layouts.
Go to the 'Label Layout & Print Settings' section. Choose your paper size (A4, Letter, 4×6), set the number of columns/rows, adjust margins and spaces, then click 'Generate PDF'. The PDF will be perfectly aligned for your label sheets.
Yes. If you enter 12 digits for EAN‑13 (instead of 13), or 11 digits for UPC‑A, or 13 digits for ITF‑14, our tool calculates and appends the correct check digit automatically. We also validate if you provide the full 13 or 14 digits.
For standard printers, 2x resolution (2 times the normal pixel width) is usually enough. For thermal printers or high‑density labels, use 4x resolution. For SVG exports, resolution does not matter – vector graphics are infinitely scalable.
